Osteoarthritis is characterized by persistent pains in joints caused by abnormal cartilage wear and tear and all joints in general. This is the most common form of arthritis.



Osteoarthritis reaches 10% of population women as much as men. After the age of 55 women are more likely to be affected. Prevalence increases along with age. Around 70 years old the majority of people suffer from arthritis in one or several joints.

What happens with osteoarthritis appearance?

Osteoarthritis types

Elementary Arthritis: When a subject has no obvious predisposition we qualify arthritis as being elementary in that case.

Secondary Arthritis: Joints related or inflammatory diseases as well as metabolic diseases (diabetes, hemochromatosis) are predisposition which can increase the likelihood of arthritis. In addition joints injuries are also an increasing factor. When there is one or another predisposition as mentioned above we call it secondary arthritis.


Osteoarthritis symptoms:

Regular practice of physical activity

15 to 30 minutes three times per week: walking, swimming, aerobic, tailored muscle building etc... The intensity of activity can vary along with pain intensity.

If work causes joints traumatisms creating osteoarthritis then adapting your working environment is crucial.
